Buying local and buying fresh were the founding principles of smallbatch. As our company has grown so has our food shed allowing us the ability to procure ingredients local to all of the markets we sell and manufacture our products in. A regional food shed also ensures we can responsibly source while supplying our demand. Buying local also supports local families and businesses, keeping our local economies and industries vibrant for future generations.

We only use all natural humanely raised and harvested meats. In addition, our meats are hormone and antibiotic-free from start to finish and we strive to use organic meat whenever possible. Our beef and lamb are always pasture raised and our poultry and rabbit are always free-range.

We only use fresh whole vegetables and herbs that are certified organic,  non-GMO and free of pesticides. Our supplements are of the highest quality and in their purest form: organic unfiltered raw apple cider vinegar, 100% pure salmon oil, and sustainably harvested organic ocean kelp to name a few.

The foundation of our business is in the sourcing. We only partner with ranchers and farmers that maintain transparent food policies and that are committed to providing leadership in sustainability and land stewardship. We are bound by similar passions and equally committed to bringing quality products to the market through responsible and cooperative efforts.

It’s simple — we believe in raw nutrition the way nature intended, so we never add a synthetic vitamin pack to our raw formulas. Instead, the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients our pets need come from whole food sources. Herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme provide vitamins like A, K, C. Kelp, rosemary, and other greens provide vitamins and minerals such as copper, magnesium, and potassium. In our cat formulas, instead of adding a synthetic source of taurine, we increase the heart content to ensure enough is available in its naturally occurring form.

We recently reduced the plastic in our packaging by 20%, and in our bulkbatch we have removed all the packaging entirely. This box is both recyclable and reusable. Our printed materials, including this brochure, are made with 100% recycled paper using eco-friendly soy based inks.
