DATA SECURITY

DATA RETENTION

We retain information as long as necessary to:

In general: account and order information for as long as you have an account with us and up to 7 years afterwards for tax, warranty and legal purposes; marketing data until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record; and website analytics and advertising data for up to 26 months, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES (CALIFORNIA AND OTHER U.S. STATES)

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and other states with similar privacy laws have the rights described below. We extend the opt-out of targeted advertising to all U.S. visitors.

Sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. We do allow advertising and analytics partners (currently Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest and Klaviyo) to collect identifiers, device and browsing information and, where you are a customer, hashed contact details and purchase information through cookies, pixels and similar tools on our Site, so they can measure and show you ads on other websites and apps. Under some state laws this is considered a "sale," "sharing," or "targeted advertising." The categories involved are Identifiers, Internet or Network Activity, Commercial Information, Geolocation (approximate) and Inferences. We do not sell or share sensitive personal information.

How to opt out. You can opt out of this sale, sharing or targeted advertising in any of these ways:

  • Click Your Privacy Choices in the footer of any page and press "Opt out." This opts out the browser and device you are using. Enter your email on that page to also opt out your customer account.
  • Click Cookie Settings in the footer and turn off marketing cookies.
  • Turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising for that browser, automatically, with no further action needed.
  • Email info@smallbatchpets.com with "Opt out" in the subject line.

Opting out stops these partners from collecting data from your browser on our Site. It does not stop email or text messages you have subscribed to; use "Unsubscribe" in any email or reply STOP to any text for that. Because the opt-out is stored in a cookie, you will need to opt out again if you clear cookies or use a different browser or device.

Other rights. You may also ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you (right to know/access), to correct it, to delete it, or to give you a portable copy. Email info@smallbatchpets.com or write to the address above. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days where permitted). We verify requests by matching the details you provide against our records; for deletion or access requests we may ask you to confirm from the email address on your account. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf if they provide written permission from you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. If we deny a request you may appeal by replying to our decision email; we will respond to appeals within 45 days.

Financial incentives. We sometimes offer a discount in exchange for signing up to email or SMS marketing. The discount is our good-faith estimate of the value of being able to send you offers. You can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
